Meet our Principal

Welcome to Mark Twain Elementary!

I am honored to be the principal of this outstanding school and I am looking forward to working closely with the students, staff, and families this year.

I grew up in Calgary, Canada and headed south to attend Washington State University where I completed my Bachelor of Science at Washington State University. I decided that my time in the Palouse was too short so I decided to complete my Master in Science in Sport Psychology from the University of Idaho. Following my graduate work and time working with school age students I found that my passion was more in the teaching realm rather than clinical. So I completed my teaching credential from Western Washington University and my principal’s credential from Seattle Pacific University. Although I have had the opportunity to attend many outstanding post-secondary institutions within the state my alliance, dedication and unwavering faith will always be directed to the Crimson and Grey (Go Cougs!)

I have been in education for over 20 years and I have worked with and taught students in elementary and junior high. Prior to coming to Mark Twain, I was an Associate Principal here in the district for 8 years and prior to that a teacher and Dean of Students in the North Shore School District for 9 years. All of my past experiences have shaped the core beliefs that I bring to this position daily. First and foremost our staff believes that every student has the ability to grow academically and personally and we look forward to working with students to meet this goal. Secondly, our decisions need to start from what are the best interests of our students. I along with our staff consider it a great privilege to work with your children and look forward to fostering a fun, nurturing, and challenging learning environment. At Twain, we are a learning community who take great pride in setting academic goals for students, staff and grade levels as well as celebrating a strong collaborative partnership to support and enhance the learning opportunities of every student in our school. Our community involvement continues to be a key component to the success of our students. We welcome and encourage parent volunteers and hope that you will take advantage of the many opportunities available to you.

On a personal note, I am married (my wife is also an administrator) and have three energetic children. I am actively involved in coaching my kid’s sports and activities and we as a family enjoy snow skiing, boating, Lake Chelan, trying new things and cheering on the Cougs.

Please, do not be a stranger, feel free to reach out to me via email or stop by if you have a concern regarding your child. Here’s to a great school year!
